Radio presenter starting a podcast? Here's the shortcut

If you've worked in radio, you already know how to make great audio. What you might not have any more is a producer, a panel operator and a station's processing chain. That's the bit Edit The Pod does.

Made by a broadcaster

Edit The Pod was started by Rabs, who's spent more than three decades in broadcasting and is a multi award-winning radio presenter and producer. It edits the way a good radio producer would: tighten the talk, keep the energy, lose the stumbles and get it sounding on air ready.

What carries over from radio

  • Your voice and your instincts. You know how to hold a conversation and when a story's landed.
  • Talking to time. A podcast doesn't have a hard post, but a tight show still keeps people listening.
  • A clean, consistent sound. Your episode gets a final broadcast style mastering pass when you export, to -14 LUFS, the level the podcast apps expect.

What Edit The Pod does for you

  • Cuts the ums, false starts and long gaps before you open the episode.
  • Cleans up and levels the sound, so a guest on a laptop microphone still sits well next to you.
  • Lets you edit by editing the words, so a talk break you'd rather lose is a highlight and a click away.
  • Writes the titles, show notes, chapters and social post from what was actually said.
  • Finds short clips for social media and punchy intro grabs to open your show.

Your first episode

  1. Record the way you're used to: a desk mix, a studio recording or a remote interview all work. One file with everyone in it is all Edit The Pod needs.
  2. Open the Podloader, drop it into Podcast audio / video and click Upload and process.
  3. Open the episode when the email arrives and read through the edit.
  4. Click Export, check the show notes and download your Publish Pack.
