How to upload your podcast for automatic editing

If you've ever stared at a fresh podcast file wondering how to get it into Edit The Pod without breaking anything, this tutorial is for you.

About this tutorial

Rabs, the founder of Edit The Pod, walks through the Podloader step by step. It's the entry point for every episode that goes into the system, and it's designed to be simple, flexible, and accessible from anywhere.

Whether you're uploading your first episode or your fiftieth, this short walkthrough covers everything you need to know to get your audio or video into the system and ready for editing.

What the Podloader Does

The Podloader is how every episode gets into Edit The Pod. You can find it on the top left of your dashboard, or go directly to editthepod.com/podloader from your phone, tablet, or computer. That means you can upload from anywhere, which is handy when you're recording on the road or want to get an episode processing while you're out.

The process is straightforward. You tell it where your episode lives by choosing an existing podcast or creating a new one. Then you choose the episode number. If you pick a number that's already been used, the system will ask if you want to rename the episode or add files to the existing one. That second option is useful if you've forgotten to upload some footage or audio the first time around.

Uploading Your Files

The top box is for your main podcast audio or video. This is the file that gets the full treatment: transcription, audio enhancement, and all the automatic editing. If your audio already sounds amazing and you don't want it enhanced, there's a toggle you can flick to skip that step.

In this tutorial, Rabs uploads an audio episode, but the same process works for video. If you're uploading video, Edit The Pod will automatically cut between camera angles based on who's speaking. That's covered in another tutorial.

The second box is for additional files that don't need processing, like music beds, images for overlay, or extra footage. The bottom section is a notes field where you can leave reminders for yourself or instructions for someone else who's editing.

Once your files are in, you click upload and process. The upload happens first, and you'll want to stay on that screen until it's finished. Once it's done, the episode starts processing in the background. At that point, you can close the tab or go back to the dashboard.

What Happens Next

When the episode finishes processing, you'll get a notification in the corner of your dashboard and an email letting you know it's ready. From there, you can jump into editing.

Rabs mentions that the next tutorial will cover the dashboard, so if you're new to Edit The Pod, that's worth watching next.

Why This Matters

Uploading an episode might sound basic, but getting it right saves time later. Knowing you can upload from any device, add forgotten files without starting over, and control whether your audio gets enhanced or left as is makes the whole process more flexible.

If you're new to Edit The Pod, this is the place to start. If you've been using it for a while, it's a good reminder of what the Podloader can do.

Hello, I'm Rabs. I'm the founder of Edit The Pod, which I built to save you a stack of time when you're editing. I think you're gonna love it. In this video, I'm gonna show you how to upload your episode using the Podloader.

Okay, so the Podloader is top left on your dashboard there. This is how every episode gets into Edit The Pod. You can also go to editthepod.com/podloader, and you can access that on your phone, tablet, anything, so you can upload from anywhere. First you want to tell it where your episode lives.

You can choose an existing podcast or select new podcast and give it a name, and then you choose the episode number. If you choose one that's already been taken, it'll ask you if you wanna rename the episode or add to the episode that already exists, which is handy if you've forgotten to upload some footage or audio.

Now drag in your audio or video into this top box: podcast audio video. This is the one that gets the full treatment, so it gets transcription, it gets the audio enhanced, it does all the auto editing on it. If you don't want the audio to be enhanced because it already sounds amazing, you just flick this little toggle here and it'll skip the audio enhancement.

For the sake of this demo, we're gonna do an audio episode, but if it were a video file we're putting in here, it does all the automatic cutting of the camera angles depending on who's speaking and all of that.

We'll do that in another video. The second box there is for any additional files, so things that don't need to be processed, like music beds or images for overlay or extra footage. And then down the bottom is just somewhere you can leave notes, whether that's to remind yourself when you go to edit or for someone else if they're editing for you.

From there all you do is you click upload and process, and away it goes. As that's uploading, you just wanna stay on that screen until it's finished, which it has. Now it's processing. You can close that tab, you can go back to the dashboard, and once the episode is finished processing, you'll get a notification up here in the corner, and you get an email to let you know as well.

In the next video I'll take you through the dashboard.
