Learn: video tutorial
Rabs walks through the Edit The Pod editor in this tutorial, showing how text-based editing works when you can cut audio by cutting words instead of dragging waveforms around.
This is a quick demo (about five minutes), but it covers the main workflow clearly: uploading your file, identifying speakers, making cuts by selecting text, adjusting those cuts in the timeline, tweaking your audio settings, and generating a full Publish Pack ready to go live.
When you open an episode in the editor, you'll see an empty transcription window. Drag your audio or video file from the files panel into the window, and the platform transcribes it automatically.
In this demo, the system made 72 cuts on a five-minute file before Rabs even touched it. It detects filler words, false starts, repetitions, and corrections, then marks them as cuts. Anything you see crossed out has already been edited. You can leave it as is, bring it back with a right-click, or skip additional sections by selecting the text and hitting skip.
Rabs demonstrates this by cutting a line where Julie says "that's rude." He selects it, skips it, and it's gone. Right-click, and it's back. The same cut appears in the timeline below. Right-click there, and it disappears. Control-Z brings it back. The text and the timeline stay in sync.
You can also edit directly in the timeline. Rabs plays a section, finds a moment he wants to trim, and drags the cut point to shorten it. The transcription bar above the timeline updates in real time. If there's no cut where you need one, you can click and drag to create one.
To adjust how the audio sounds, click in the timeline, then click the Audio button in the top right corner. There's a slider for enhanced audio, which applies compression, limiting, and volume boosting. Slide it down to zero, and you get the raw file. Mix it somewhere in between if you want a bit of room tone but still want the polish. There are also EQ settings, a leveler, and a compressor, but Rabs points out you probably won't need to touch them.
Eddie sits in the bottom right corner of the editor. You can click on him at any time and ask a question. He pulls from all the platform knowledge to give you an answer. In the demo, Rabs asks Eddie how to get to the Publish Pack, and Eddie tells him to click Export at the top of the editor.
Once you finish editing, you click Export and land in the Publish Pack. This is where the platform generates everything you need to publish the episode:
Everything is editable. You can click into any field and type. The AI instructions that guide how the content is generated are also customisable, but there's a solid default built in already.
When you're ready, select the items you want to download, click Download Publish Pack, and the platform zips everything up for you. Rabs shows the process in real time. The demo episode is only five minutes, so the audio renders fast. Video takes longer because there's more to process, but audio episodes export quickly.
This tutorial covers the core workflow, but the platform does more. The help section includes guides for:
Rabs encourages you to try the demo episode, ask Eddie questions, and explore the features at your own pace.
Text-based editing changes the workflow. You don't need to hunt through a waveform to find a mistake or a filler word. You just read the transcript, find the section you want to cut, and skip it. The platform handles the audio in the background. Cuts sound smooth. Timing stays tight. The finished file is ready to go.
If you've been editing podcasts the traditional way (zooming in on waveforms, dragging clips, hunting for breaths), this is a different experience. It's faster, clearer, and less technical. You edit the way you read.
Watch the full tutorial to hear Rabs walk through the editor in real time. It's a short episode, but it covers the mechanics clearly and shows you what the platform can do.
Now for the fun part, we'll jump into the editor. I'm gonna show you three things: how to edit by editing the words, how to make it sound great, and then how to get everything that you need for publishing in the Publish Pack. So let's jump in. You just click on the tile for the episode you want to edit.
When it's coming through the Podloader, it will be empty like this. All you need to do is drag this from the files panel across into your transcription window. Hey, might have seen there it's done 72 cuts on this little five-minute bit that we've uploaded.
First thing you'll do, it'll ask you who is who. Hello and welcome to Edit The Pod. Well, that's me. So grabs, I actually can't remember who the other one is in this. That's rude. I don't even know what I mean by it. And that's Julie. Pop their names in, click anywhere outside the box, and there it is.
There's your transcription there. There's the waveform at the bottom. I should point out that you don't need to save at any point. It's all always saving in the background. So for the magic part, anything that you see crossed out has already been edited. Double click on the words at the start: Hello and welcome to Edit The Pod.
I'm Rabs, I'm the founder. This is Julie. She's a flounder. That's rude. Let me show you how to do a quick cut here. So say we wanna take out Julie saying "that's rude" there. I just select it, skip, and now it'll play like this: This is Julie. She's a flounder. I don't even know what I mean. Gone.
Just like that. If I wanna bring that back, I just right click on it and it's back. She's a flounder. That's rude. I don't even know what. There's also a cut down here in the timeline. If I right click on that, it gets rid of that. Control Z brings it back again.
We scroll down a bit, we'll find another button bit that is chopped out. Okay, so here we go. Yeah. So it's supposed to be designed well. It is designed for, for you to be able to and it's just automatically chopped out that correction there. So that'll play. Yeah.
So it's supposed to be designed for you to be able to use it. Let's jump down to the bottom here. This is your timeline video. You'll see that a double click in there makes it play from that point. This has already been edited. The top track is where your main podcast audio or video goes.
These other two tracks below are where you can put your show intro, ads, outro, all those things. There's more of a guide there in the help page for when you need it, so we won't go into it just now. If you see a highlighted section like this in the text, it means it thinks this could be cut out, but it wasn't confident enough to actually just get rid of it.
You can right click on the text and choose to skip that whole section or dismiss the suggestion, and then it just plays through like normal. To adjust how your audio sounds, you just click down here in the timeline, then click on audio in the top right corner.
You can see here that the audio is currently set to 100% enhanced audio. You can slide that back down to zero and get the raw audio that it first came with. You can mix between them, so if you want it compressed and with a limiter and boosting the volume in certain parts but still keeping a bit of the ambience from in the room, you can do it like that. You've got EQ settings, you've got the leveler, the compressor, different settings there as well, but generally you won't really even need to touch those.
I'll show you how easy it is to edit in the timeline as well. So let's have a listen. This bit here, you actually a podcast Oh. Oh yeah. Well, so I accidentally Alright, let's get rid of that. Oh yeah.
You can see it there in the transcription bar above the timeline. There's already a cut here, so if I drag that back to the left, it'll just become "you accidentally drop it". Just like that. A right click on the cut completely gets rid of it. Oh Oh yeah, so I accidentally And if there is no cut there, you can make your own just by clicking and dragging. What the So I accidentally drop a swear word.
There's plenty more obviously to look at in here and so many other things you can do, but they're all in the guides in the help section for if you need them. I really should point out as well that Eddie here, down in the bottom right corner, is where he sits by default. You can click on him at any time and ask him a question, and he will give you the response based on all of his knowledge.
And Eddie knows everything. He's saying there that we need to click on export at the top of the editor to go into the Publish Pack. So let's do that. So you finished editing your episode, you come into the Publish Pack and you find everything you're going to need: five episode titles, show notes for your episode description to go up on Spotify, caption for a social media post, artwork. If this was a video episode, it generates artwork, and it even writes a blog or a newsletter based on what it's learned from the episode.
Everything in here is editable as well. You simply click in here and type. All of the instructions for how it comes up with this content are all in here in the AI instructions, which you can customise. This is just the default that's been built in already for you. From there you just come over here to the right, select all the things that you would like to download, click on Download Publish Pack, and it'll zip the whole thing up for you, and you'll receive it as a zip file on your computer.
Open it up, you've got everything that you need. This is just to show you how fast it can go on this. It's only a 5-minute demo thing that we've done in there, but there it is, building the sets done. Obviously video takes a lot longer, it's got a lot more rendering to do, but the audio ones are super quick.
And that's basically it: uploading, editing, exporting. There are guides on the help page for pretty much everything: multiple camera angles, hello and welcome to Edit The Pod, automatically creating reels from your content, adding intros and ads and music. Have a play with the demo episode.
As I say, Eddie's always there to help you out, and I'd love to hear what you think of it. Have fun, and I hope today you enjoy it when you edit the pod. Oh, that was cheesy.
